KMSAM 1.24 -*- KMS Area Manager ©1994 Thomas Schwarz
========================================================
Documentation
=============
Introduction:
-------------
KMSAM is a GUI for editing the area data of KMS, my famous "Karfunkel
Mailbox System" and is based on MUI, the even more famous "Magic User
Interface" by Stefan Stuntz which has to be installed on your system in
order to be able to use KMSAM.
KMSAM makes you able to change every data item of a KMS message area which
may be edited by the KMS internal command #11 "BRETTED", but on a much more
comfortable graphically nice-looking astonishingly pretty way.
KMSAM is designed especially for use with KMS and is not intended to be
used by anything or anybody for anything else. (But surely I'm not able to
stop you from abusing it anyway. If you abuse it, please tell me which way
you do it. I can't imagine one :-)
Call-Syntax:
------------
KMSAM [Areaname/-path]
Parameters:
-----------
Areaname/-path Optional: If you supply the name or complete path of a KMS
area as argument, KMSUM directly presents the editing window
for this area, if it already exists, or lets you create a
new one with the given name.
Description:
------------
Main Window:
++++++++++++
If KMSAM is called without parameters, you will see the main window with a
listview on the left side and several buttons on the left and bottom of the
window. In the list there always are shown all the KMS areas of the current
level. You change to the next deeper tree-level by double clicking on a
name in the list or selecting the "Children"-button. You climb one level up
by selecting "Parent". In the top-level there always is just one area, the
one for private mail.
With a single click on an area name you select this for further editing by
using all the buttons on the right side of the KMSAM window.
Available buttons/actions in the main KMSAM window:
[ Up ] Move area one position up in the list.
[ Down ] Move area one position down in the list.
[ Cut ] Remove an area from the list and save it for later
reincarnation (->Paste).
[ Copy ] Save the data of current area for later cloning
(->Paste).
[ Paste ] If you did a "Cut" or "Copy" before, create an area
with the saved data at the current position in the list.
[ Sort ] Sort areas alphabetically.
[ Add ] Add new area to the list at the current position.
[ Remove ] Say Good Bye to the current area.
[ Edit ] Change data of currently selected area.
You leave the program by clicking the window close gadget or selecting
"Quit" from the pull down menu.
Editing Window:
+++++++++++++++
If you choose "Add" or "Edit" in the main window, the KMSAM Area Editor
window is opened. Here you get the possibility to change the
characteristics of the selected area.
I think the meaning of all the available string, slider, cycle and
checkmark gadgets are quite self explanatory, if you are familiar to
editing userdata with the KMS internal command #11 "BRETTED". So I will
make my life easy here by just saying: "Read the documentation of BRETTED"
:-)
The two available buttons do the following:
[ Use ] Accept changes and return to the main window.
[ Cancel ] Leave editor window without changing anything.

Quote of the day:
-----------------
"All right," said Masklin. "But you're not to fly down low again and try
to read the signposts. Every time you do that, humans rush into the streets
and we get lots of shouting on the radio."
"That's right." said the Thing. "People are bound to get excited when
they see a ten-million-ton starship trying to fly down the street."
-- (Terry Pratchett, Wings)

Perhaps you wonder why this documentation is written in English while KMS
in general is a German system? Well, I'm practising my English :-)
